The Venetian Casino Resort in Macau

The Venetian Macao is a luxury hotel and casino resort in Macau owned by the Las Vegas Sands corporation. The Venetian is a 40-story, $2.4 billion anchor for the 7 resort hotels which are under construction on the Cotai Strip in Macau. The 10,500,000-square-foot (980,000 m2) Venetian Macao is modeled on its sister casino resort the The Venetian in Las Vegas and is the largest single structure hotel building in Asia and the fourth-largest building in the world by area.

The main hotel tower was finished in July 2007 and the resort officially opened on August 28 2007. The resort has 3000 suites, 1,200,000 sq ft (111,000 m2) of convention space, 1,600,000 sq ft (149,000 m2) of retail, 550,000 square feet (51,000 m2) of casino space largest in the world with 3400 slot machines and 800 gambling tables and a 15,000 seat arena for entertainment/sports events.

The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino is the largest AAA Five-Diamond rated Resort in the Americas. This Venice-themed luxury hotel and casino is located on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, on the site of the old Sands Hotel. The Venetian is owned and operated by the Las Vegas Sands Corporation.

The Venetian has 4,049 suites and an 11,000 m2 casino. It is located on the east side of the Strip, between Harrah’s and the The Palazzo. What makes it really stand out is the canal system built on the first floor of the resort!

Combined with the adjacent Sands Expo Convention Center and The Palazzo Hotel and casino resort, The Venetian is a part of the largest hotel and resort complex in the world — featuring 8,108 hotel rooms and suites.

On November 26, 1996, 8 years after it was bought by Sheldon Adelson, the Sands Hotel was imploded to make way for The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino. Ground was broken April 14, 1997.

The resort opened on 3 May 1999 with flutter of white doves, sounding trumpets and singing gondoliers, with actress Sophia Loren joining The Venetian Chairman and Owner, Sheldon G. Adelson, in naming the first motorized gondola. Built at a cost of USD1.5 billion, it was one of the most expensive resorts of its kind when it opened.

With almost one film per day, one may be forgiven for thinking I do nothing else but I do have a day job as well. I have produced around 1,000 original films, most in English but also in Polish, French, Italian, Spanish and the occasional hint of German and Hebrew. Every packaging trade fair is a new excuse to make another film!
